Homhil Protected Area is a special place on Socotra Island. It’s like an adventure in a fairy tale. Imagine walking among amazing trees, feeling a bit like Alice in Wonderland!

There’s a little climb to a pool surrounded by breathtaking trees. The water in this pool is so refreshing, and it’s like the best infinity pool I’ve ever seen. If you go a bit further up, you’ll find a charming old house with shade – perfect for a picnic and a relaxed afternoon.

But that’s not all. In Homhil, you’ll see some of the most beautiful plants and landscapes on Socotra Island. It’s a place that will fill your heart with memories of lush greenery. You’ll see plenty of unique plants like frankincense and bottle trees, as well as cucumber trees. And the real star of this place is the dragon blood tree. Homhil is home to one of the world’s largest and most widespread forests of these incredible trees.

When you enter the park, you’ll learn about the frankincense trees and the damage caused by a cyclone in 2017, which affected not only them but also the dragon blood trees.

After a bit of trekking, you’ll reach a trailhead that takes you into the territory of the dragon blood trees. Then, you’ll descend to a natural infinity pool with a view of a valley. It’s a great place to swim, but please remember not to use any soaps or products there to keep it safe.

In total, the trek takes about half a day if you want to explore, take photos, and enjoy a swim. It’s an unforgettable adventure in nature!
