The itinerary was well designed, interesting, and flexible, meeting all of our requests. Even now, I still miss those nights falling asleep under the stars in Socotra. Seeing a sky full of stars every single night is something you just can’t experience in the city.

A big thank you to 2Socotra for taking such great care of our group. The chef was amazing—four delicious meals a day, and every single one was fantastic. We’re also really grateful to our guide and driver for taking us across mountains and seas, teaching us Arabic and local dialects, and sharing so many stories about Socotra’s history.

We truly loved this trip and highly recommend everyone to visit this incredibly untouched island at least once.

Omar, our main guide, was an absolute legend (the good kind, not the overused TripAdvisor kind). He was knowledgeable, patient, funny, and somehow managed to keep our group organised without ever making it feel like we were on a schedule.

The itinerary covered all the highlights — Shuab Beach (with dolphins escorting the boat), the otherworldly dragon blood trees at Dixsam, and surreal sunsets at Detwah Lagoon. But what really stood out was how safe and welcome we felt the entire time. Despite concerns people might have because of what’s happening on mainland Yemen, Socotra is completely peaceful and felt a world away from all of that.

The food was fine — it did the job — but let’s be honest, you’re not going to Socotra for a culinary tour. You’re going for the jaw-dropping landscapes, crystal-clear water, weird and wonderful trees, and a chance to fully unplug.

Highly recommend booking with these guys if you’re up for an adventure that feels like it belongs on another planet.

Pure magic  - What a truly special trip! Socotra itself is an amazing destination filled with wonderful sights. From the moment we stepped out of the plane I was in awe of the landscapes. Each day seemed to out do the last.

I highly recommend 2socotra. The guide, driver, cook and camp staff were a great team who seemed to genuinely care about our experience. They were attentive and always keen to help. The vehicles were in very good condition and driver skills impressive particularly over difficult terrain. English was a bit of a struggle but we had an Arabic speaker in our group which eased communication. That being said, saying goodbye really felt like saying bye to good friends.

Facilities on the island are basic so travellers should come prepared (eg bring toilet paper, wet wipes for days when fresh water showers aren’t available). We spent a lot of time in the water and I was glad I brought a long sleeve swimsuit to protect against the sun.

Fantastic trip - one of my favorite places in the world!  - Fantastic trip to Socotra for 7 nights and 3 combined nights in Al Mukalla on the mainland of Yemen!!! Socotra and Yemen are now one of my favorite places... read more in the world!!! (I am fortunate to have visited almost every country in the world - currently 9 left). Socotra is truly a magical island. There were three of us on our tour. I highly recommend that you visit during the bottle tree blooming period in March and April. The desert is spectacularly lit up with bright pink and red flowers on the bottle trees. The downside is that it is hotter in March/ April than in Dec/ Jan but it is worth it. The 2Socotra staff were incredible and worked very hard to make it a special trip. The guide and driver were a joy to be around and were very entertaining and helpful. I had an issue with transferring the deposit to their bank but we worked it out and I transferred the funds to a bank in the US.

I highly recommend stopping in Al Mukalla to see the mainland which very few tourists do- only 2 tourists on my flight. There is high security in Al Mukalla at the airport and in the city with several armored cars and several checkpoints with men with machine guns. The guards were friendly and respectful and are there for everyones protection. If you feel comfortable in this environment then I would highly recommend to go. If not, you can fly directly from Abu Dhabi to Socotra but you need to book sometimes months in advance since the planes are fully booked. It is much easier to book to Al Mukalla and only slightly more money- definitely worth it in my opinion. I am just thrilled I had an opportunity to visit both Socotra and the mainland on one trip.
